HGSRC Success at the English Junior Championships 2016

Buckinghamshire had several representatives at the recent English Junior Championships held in Birmingham on 11 – 13 March 2016.
In particular, our very own Jasper Kettle and Will Smith competed in the BU15 tournament and did both themselves and the club proud. Jasper had a very tough first round match against the no. 3 seed, Jack Mitterer, going down 3-0.
Will had an equally tough first round and was in control until his opponent, Harry Kitchens, had a forced long injury break to clean up cuts to his hand and elbow incurred after an epic rally. Harry bounced back on all cylinders and unfortunately Will lost out in a very tight and exciting 3-2 match.
This left Jasper and Will in the plate knockout. They both played exceptionally well against their next three opponents resulting in an all Bucks/HGSRC plate final between the two of them. It was a shame that one of them had to lose; however on this occasion, Jasper came out on top winning 3-2.
Overall, this meant that Jasper finished 17th and Will 18th out of 32 players. Many congratulations to both boys on a fantastic weekend.
