HGSRC Juniors: 24 January

There was some great squash last weekend. The results may not have all gone our way; however there were some very close games nevertheless.

It is worth noting that several players were playing up a team due to a lack of availability. Everybody put in great performances and should be congratulated on stepping up to the challenge.

HGSRC 2 were up against Wycombe 1 at home. Wycombe surprised us by bringing along their new signing, Nick Harbour, despite him being an Oxfordshire lad! A great player so he was always going to be tough opposition. The second team put in an excellent performance despite losing out 15-8. An entertaining match report from Matt O'Regan :^)

This match was then followed by the local derby between the 3rd and 4th teams. The match was played in great spirit amongst friends with the 3rd team securing a 19-0 win. The result does not do justice to the 4th team though as some of the game scores were very close.

The 5th team travelled to Farnham Common where we saw James MacLarnon and Shristi Ghosh making their debuts for Holmer Green. Despite the 19-1 loss, this group of players all did themselves proud and put in a fantastic performance. With a little more match experience, they will be a force to be reckoned with. Well done to you all.

The 2nd, 3rd and 5th teams are all playing again this weekend. The 4th team have a weekend off. The 1st team's match against Chesham Bois 1 has unfortunately again been postponed. We were due to play at Chesham Bois; however they are hosting the Bucks County Closed so there were no courts available. This match has been rescheduled for Sunday 3 April.
