Match Reports for Sunday 1 November
Match Report for HGSRC 1 vs HGSRC 2 by Lynn O’Regan. Teams: HGSRC 1 – Matt Wooster, (Jasper Kettle), James Holland, Matty Gallagher, Sunil Popat HGSRC 2 – Matt O’Regan, (Max Cherrett), Conor Taylor, Ethan Andrews, Jacob Pompe
After the disappointment of Max being unwell and unable to play, therefore giving Jasper and the 1st team a head start, the rest of the players got down to some great squash. As you would expect, the 1st team were the stronger team, but that's not to say the 2nd team didn't give it their best shot!! Although Matt O was the only one to get a game, the game scores were very respectable.
The point of the day has to go to Matt O'Regan. As he returned a shot, his racket flew out of his hand. Matt Wooster ran to seal an easy point… and hit it out spectacularly!! Matt O therefore winning the point whilst his racket was 2 metres away from him. Everybody, including Matt W, had a good old chuckle!! What really struck me was the gamesmanship of both teams.
The matches were played with humour and compliments paid to opponents on shots well played. It really showed the great spirit we have in the Junior section at HGSRC!!
Match Report for HGSRC 3 vs Beaconsfield Jaguars by Matt. Team : Matt Holland, Sarah Jackson, Rachel Albin, Simon Jackson, Alysha Martin
The third team had a great result against Beaconsfield Jaguars. Although the Jaguars put up a great fight, Holmer Green were just too strong winning all five matches. Special mention must go to Rachel who after going two games down turned the match around and won 3-2. Fantastic team performance!
Match Report for HGSRC 4 vs Wendover 2 by Andy Carr. Team : Dominic Holland, Konrad Pompe, Bertie Carr, Daniel Allington, Finn Andrews
The score doesn’t reflect the end result of the match as is often the case. Finn played a very good game, his first match for the 4th, against a hard hitting opponent. He showed us that he has a lot of potential. Daniel had a very very close game against a left-hander and the match could have gone either way. A 3-1 does not reflect the quality of the game. There were some epic rallys.
Bertie lost in straight games to an opponent who was almost twice his height. Konrad won 3-0 and played a very nice game against a much older opponent. Some very nice squash. Dominic lost 3-0 to a very good Bucks county player and again should be pleased with his game. Overall some really nice squash was played. We lost 16-4 but in context, our 4th team were playing their 2nds.
Well done to the team.
