HGSRC 50th Anniversary
On Friday 13th February 2026, we were delighted to welcome Patrick Rooney (highest world ranking No.18) and George Parker (highest world ranking No.25) to the club to help us celebrate our 50th anniversary milestone.
The evening began with Patrick and George spending an hour on court with our juniors, offering tips, encouragement and the invaluable opportunity to play alongside two of the very best in the game. It was an inspiring experience for our young players and a fantastic boost to their development.
Following the junior session, several adult members had the rare chance to test themselves against Patrick and George. Competing against players of this calibre gave everyone a real appreciation of the speed, precision and intensity of the professional game.
The highlight of the evening was a thrilling exhibition match between Patrick and George themselves. Their incredible movement, athleticism and shot-making truly showcased squash at the highest level.
We rounded off the event with a raffle featuring generously donated prizes from our local community, followed by food and drinks in the bar — a perfect way to celebrate together.
It was a wonderful occasion marking the club’s long-standing presence in the local community, and we look forward to many more successful years ahead.
